Hi Angela

As your son has the registered address for his car as your address, the bailiffs are working on a presumption your address is where he lives.

I would suggest your son updates the DVLA records as to where he is living, as legally the registered keeper of a car is under a legal requirement to register with them where they are living.

If you tell the bailiffs he is not living at your address, then he needs to tell the DVLA where he does live.

He also needs to take responsibility for his penalty notices so they don’t impact on you. He can call us on the number below and we can hopefully help him.

On the issue of the bailiffs, you do not need to give them access to your home unless they have the correct paperwork that allows them to force entry. You should also keep your doors locked so they cannot just walk in.

If they do gain entry, they are still not allowed to attach your goods for your son’s debts.
