Hi Margaret

No they cannot take your possessions to pay debts that are owed by your son.
You should tell them he no longer lives with you, but they may then want to know where he lives.
You do not need to them this, but unless they are able to confirm he is no longer living with you, they may continue to treat him as if he does.
This may mean they may continue to threaten to try and gain access to your home.
You do not, however, need to give them access, unless they are seeking to recover debts owed to HMRC, such as income tax or VAT, or it is fine they are trying to recover. However, if you allow them access or if you leave a door unlocked they can gain peaceful access. You would then need to evidence that the goods are not your sons.
I would suggest you speak with you son and explain he needs to deal with this situation and he can speak with one of our advisers on the number below or by chatting with us online.
