Bankruptcy restrictions only apply while you are an undischarged bankrupt, unless you are subject to a bankruptcy restrictions order (BRO) made by the court. These are usually made when an individual is deemed culpable in the bankruptcy for reasons of reckless, irresponsible or dishonest conduct. A register of BROs can be found on the following website: http://www.bis.gov.uk/insolvency

Although there isn’t anything in Insolvency law that prohibits you from doing this you may need to check with the School about their policy and requirements for appointing a School Governor.
