Who are CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors?
Unlike many of the businesses on our debt collectors and bailiffs list, CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors aren’t an outsourced debt collection agency, or a court-appointed bailiff. They are an in-house collection team of the Provident Financial Group.
If you owe money to, or have entered a credit arrangement with Provident Personal Credit, Vanquis Bank, Greenwood or Satsuma Loans, and have failed to keep up with your payments, CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors are likely going to chase you for the outstanding amount.
Many lenders create similar internal collection departments to appear as though they are a separate business. When they do this, it can often put you under even more pressure, believing that the collection department holds different powers to their original lender.
Provident Personal Credit follows the code of practice outlined by the Consumer Credit Association and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Why would they contact you?
CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors are employed to recoup the money from debt agreements where the borrower has failed to meet the agreed payment schedules.
You may have forgotten about a loan or lost your payment details when changing banks or moving house. On the other hand, your personal situation could have changed, meaning you can no longer afford to make your repayments.
However, you can’t afford to ignore their requests, as it could result in you being taken to court. The best way to stop them from contacting you is to deal with the situation.
Do you owe CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors money?
If you’re not sure which of your lenders or credit cards you may owe money to, it’s very easy to find out. The best way to do this is to check your credit report for any outstanding balances.
You may be able to discount their claims altogether if you believe that you don’t owe money to any of the companies linked with CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors. However, you must be able to provide proof that the debt has been paid.
If you do still owe them money, then you should be given the chance to repay in a way that’s affordable to you. You should never be pressured to pay more than you can afford.
How old is the debt they are collecting?
There is a time limit on most debts. If you took out the loan or your last credit card payment was longer before the agreement’s agreed length of time, then you may be able to write off the debt entirely.
These debts are known as statute barred, and legally, you do not have to pay them.
If your debt is found to be active, however, you should repay it as soon as possible. If repayment is going to be hard in your current situation, there are options out there for you that you can seek advice on; allowing you to find a solution that suits your needs.
Are CK Edrupt and Co Solicitors treating you unfairly?
It is against the law to be harassed to make payments you can’t afford. The Financial Conduct Authority set out strict guidelines that all lenders and collection agents must follow. If you feel any of these have been broken, then you could be entitled to compensation.
The guidelines include areas such as:
- Harassment
- Bullying
- Forced entry
- Physical force
- Taking payments without permission
- Providing false information to acquire payment
If you think any of these rules have been broken or an agent has acted against the law. They will also help you pursue the protection and resolve that you deserve.
