I worked for the Debt Advice Foundation a charity that since 2002 has helped to educate people about debt. DAF is all about alleviating poverty through debt advice. You may have read about us in the media recently.
In September 2008 DAF published a book of Money Diaries called “The Price of Fame and Worldly Goods”. Aimed at helping primary school children understand how to manage money and avoid debt, it was written and illustrated by two students from Southlands High School in Chorley. It was launched at a ceremony attended by Lindsay Hoyle MP and the Chairman of the Trustees, Dennis Benson. The second volume of Money Diaries, “Birthday Blues and the Sweet Taste of Money”, was launched in April 2009 with the support of Education minister Ed Balls MP.

We aren't a commercial organisation - Debt Advice Foundation is a registered charity (no.1095705) Until November I was sat in an office with 20,000 books waiting to be distributed to schools across the country! We operate a free debt advice helpline you can call on 0800 327 7505.
Many years experience in debt advice and debt collection. In my experience the best people to speak to are advice charities such as the CAB - www.adviceguide.org.uk, the CCCS or the Debt Advice Foundation. Since 2002 I've interviewed over 8,500 people and I hope I at least gave them something to think about! You should note I'm not a solicitor or insolvency practitioner and my advice is based on my own experience and opinion.
