I have split from my partner of 9 years, we were not married and I understand that I have no legal rights as we were not married. I would like to stay in the house that we jointly own but am worried that I will not be accepted for a mortgage due to the value of the property and my low wage. At present I pay all the bills and he is still paying the mortgage.
The house is on the Market and he has suggested that he could force a sale and I would be left with nothing due to the lack of equity in the property.
Really worried and feel let down by our legal system.
Any advice would be great.

As joint owner you have joint rights over the property and the house cannot be sold without your permission (or an Order of the Court). It is wrong to say you have no legal rights.
