Partner moving in with depts |
I am thinking about a new partner moving in with me and my 3 children but he has consolidate depts with his ex wife and is in dept with his morgage may even end up having his house reprocessed and owing aprox 15-25 grand on his morgage. will this mean moving in with me will give my address a bad credit history? what will be the complications when he lives with me or if in the future he moves out.? If he does move in will my ex partner also be able to charge him rent even tho my ex doesnt pay the morgage but still on the deeds.
Any other information you can advise me on would be appreciaded. Thanks
Re: Partner moving in with depts
Credit ratings are linked to the individual not the property so unless you have a financial association with him (for example, joint bills or joint accounts) your credit rating will not be affected by him living in your property. Your ex-partner will not be able to charge rent to your new partner if he moves in as his name is not on the mortgage. However, if your new partner lives with you for some time and contributes financially to the household he may build up a beneficial interest in your property. This essentially means that although his name is not on the deeds he may be entitled to a percentage of the equity due to contributing financially to the household over an extended period of time.
