hi,i took out 1000.00 worth of high street vouchers about 12 month ago, |
i thought i had a balance left to pay of 285.00 which it clearly states on my payment book,as all the payments have been marked of,however when going into the shop where i got the vouchers from,to pay off my balance,i have now been told that,i actually owe another 500.00 pound,as apparently when i first took out the vouchers one of the staff who was dealing with it "forgot" to add on the interest, this is through no fault of mine, and now it looks like i actually owe 785.00 instead of the 285 which i originally thought i owed,i,m devestated surely they cant get away with this,i would have thought that as this was their error,i shouldent have to pay this, but i,m not sure where i stand, any help would be much appreciated thanks in advance for any replies
Re: hi,i took out 1000.00 worth of high street vouchers ...
This site seems to be more about helping people who do actually owe the money.
You have a case that you don't owe the money as (I assume) the credit agreement has been filled out incorrectly and the payment book reflects this.
I would personally refuse to pay this sum until they provide you with proof of a signed credit agreement showing you owed the original sum plus the interest. I doubt they can.
But then thats just me!
I would warn you they may threaten to take you to court for a sum like £785. If you need some further advice on whether you owe the money, the CAB would be the place to go.
If you DO owe the money then contact me at the Debt Advice Foundation by clicking on my name.
