I left my ex partner due to domestic violence, but before signed a HP agreement for a television which he still has. The company are now chasing me for payment. I am a single parent and was forced into the agreement by my ex partner. Can I push the debt on to him as he has the television?

The first step will be to contact the HP provider and explain your situation, they may be able to reduce payments or change the payment period. If you stop making payments then the HP provider will repossess the television. This may affect your credit rating and make it difficult for you to obtain credit in the future. However, if you don’t plan on taking out any more credit, then you might not consider this a big problem.
