question category: IVA

ive been in an IVA for a year. I started a job in Aug and havent declared it.

we had really bad mortgage arrears so kept quiet to get them back on track. My husband is losing his job on Friday and I know I need to tell them. I have an annual review phonecall meeting at 3pm and really dreading it. If I tell them about my work and my husbands job what will happen. Im making myself physically sick with worry.

It is really important you face up to your IP who has a duty to see that the arrangement succeeds. The annual review is actually an opportunity not an obstacle. Let us know how you get on.

Hi there

Please don't worry - making yourself ill over these things won't help, and it is better to face up to and deal with these issues. Once everything is out in the open, you will feel so much better and releived of the burden you are currently carrying.

From the information that you've provided, I’m assuming that all contributions into the IVA are upto date and this is another reason that you have gained employment?

I think personally, you need to be open and honest with your Supervisor or Administrator who is supervising your IVA and explain the reason why you have kept back certain information.

In any event, your Supervisor has a duty to hold the annual review and request copies of your P60, wage slips and bank statements, so within that process, they would realise you have been holding back information anyway. With this in mind, I do think it is best for you to be open and honest with them now and I’m sure they will be able to help.

If your husband is about to lose his job you can look at a possible payment break, or variation to reduce payments, but this would have to be agreed by your creditors. Again, I would advise calling your Supervisor to discuss this in further detail. Remember, they are there to help you...all you have to do is ask.

I do hope this helps you. Good luck with the call.
