Re: i am a police officer do i have to declare an IVA to them?

I would certainly declare that I was in an IVA. IVAs are a matter of public record and there is a searchable online database at www.insolvency.gov.uk. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be found out concealing your IVA. It shouldn't have an effect on your employment but perhaps you should speak to your union or a confidential helpline.

This question was answered by Debt Advice Foundation, an independent UK debt advice charity. If you're considering entering into an IVA, Debt Advice Foundation provides a free, confidential helpline and can advise you on whether you qualify. Click here to find out more.

To be more specific about your question, it very much depends on your role within the police force and your contract. As a rule of thumb, you can work in the police force with an IVA and you shouldn't need to declare it.
