question category: IVA

are iva s so tight as to exclude a merry x mas

why take an iva if every penny you have left goes into it
is there really no cash for christmas or birthdays or a pint after working all week
i was told to take a week holday each year in my iva ,but can i afford it,no chance
at the time when every one is knocking on your door its the best thing since sliced bread, and i do really appreciate the relief its given my family.
but after the first year i realise that i dont have a carrot left after we have both done a ful weeks work
so my queation is this is christmas and burthdays and a quick jar at end of workink week all suspended
if so why not just go for bankruptcy,i cant now as they wil want what i can now afford to give my iva xo no difference
i read a womans blog where all the kids cant have a xmas pressy as no cash left poor soul
also why do overime or get promotion if it all dissapears .....moan moan moan...
merry christmas to ye all
yep its my fault for gettin into debt now gotta pay the piper,so he can enjoy his turkey

Re: are iva s so tight as to exclude a merry x mas

You make a good point.

An IVA has to be realistic and sustainable and should reduce your monthly debt repayment giving you more money to live on.

You have to understand that the IVA is YOUR proposal and the advisors who set it up are exactly that - your advisors.

Everyone who sets up an IVA should set out why it is a better result than bankruptcy - otherwise you are right - no one would do an IVA and everyone would go bankrupt.

The IVA has a lot of benefits - including protection from court action and bankruptcy. If you are having trouble with your IVA you must speak to your supervisor as soon as possible - you can get your arrangement altered or "varied".

If you are just looking at IVAs you should make sure you are happy with the advice you are getting - you will probably be with that company for 5 years. Try a few different companies.
