I am debt free and earn just under £15,000 a year. I want to buy a house or flat and have been told I could get a mortgage for about £60,000. In the area I live this wouldn't buy me a garage to live in. My partner was declared bankrupt in 2007. Is there a way we can join both incomes but put the mortgage in my name only without his bad credit ruining the chance of a larger mortgage?
