Will DRO affect my council tenancy??

I am waiting for paperwork to come through for DRO from CCCS and was just wondering about my secure tenancy with birmingham council.
I owe the council around £1,900 in rent arrears!!!! (i know, tut tut) I've had a notice seeking possesion before which is due to run out in August. I am now claiming IS due to loosing job and am a full time single mom to 3 kiddies. I have been paying £5 per week off what i owed since loosing my job.

I am now worried that they will kick me out :( can they?

Thanks in advance
Sarah

Re: Will DRO affect my council tenancy??

You need to address this question to the CCCS in the first instance. Then you need to check your tenancy agreement for any mention of the effect of bankruptcy or insolvency on your tenancy.

Only certain organisations can present Debt Relief Orders. You might also get an opinion from your local Citizen's Advice Bureau who can not only advice on DROs but also on housing matters.
