Can you opt for a debt relief order if you own your own home


i have £10,000 of debt i am currently not working due to having a baby and can no longer afford my mortgage or my debts and i have heard about this can any one give me any information regarding this thank you

No, unfortunately DROs are not currently available to home owners.

This is because you are not allowed gross assets of more than £300 (excluding a car up to £1000).

You should take impartial advice on your options from a free debt advice charity such as the Citizen's Advice Bureau or the Debt Advice Foundation.
