Will my business be affected if I try sort out my personal £50 of debt by sending offers? |
I am a one of three directors of a Limited company and I personally owe £45 to 4 credit cards and a loan. I am struggling to pay these and I am going to write to hopefully freeze the interest and offer pro-rota payments. I know this will affect my credit score which is no problem but I need to know whether my work would find out and also I use the same Bank fro both business and home. So would this affect my business in anyway by me trying to sort my credit card debt?

I am working on the basis that you owe in the region of £45k not £45. Although you are a Director it is usually only bankruptcy and Debt Relief Orders that will affect your status, but I would always double check by speaking to a debt advisor. It would also depend on the Company and whether they do regular credit checks on the Directors and employees.
£45k is a lot of money to repay by making reduced payments via an informal debt management plan (DMP) and will take quite a few years to repay the amount in full even with no interest or charges. Although a DMP is a good starting point there are other solutions out there that you might be eligible for so please do take advice and look at all your options.
As far as banking at the same bank as the Company this should not have any affect at all as Limited Companies are dealt with differently than say a Sole Trader and your creditors would not be able to take any funds from the Company account. I would though, open a totally separate account from any creditor whom you owe money to otherwise they could just take any overdue payments from your bank when you have wages paid in which is not something you need when you are trying to budget.
