will my partner have to repay my debt?

i have an unpaid tax bill from 2008 and have settled a repayment of £10 a week out of my benefit. This was all well and good until i met a man and fell pregnant and now we want to live together. As he has a reasonably well paid job, i wouldnt be entitled to any benefit and we would live solely off his income. Would he then become liable to pay back my debt although i had nothing to do with him when the dect incurred?

Your partner will not be liable to repay your debts but as you have made an agreement to repay at £10 per week, you will be bound to this agreement. Once your benefits cease, you may receive a bill for the full amount outstanding to be paid immediately as your creditor has no guarantee that you have any other source of income from which to continue your weekly repayments.
