If this was previously a secured debt, then you are still responsible for up to 12 years after the debt was incurred and the lender, or their representative, can still track you down and require payment in full. Other debts have a limitation period of 6 years. If you have made any payments or been in contact with the lender during these 10 years, then your limitation period starts from the date of last contact.
After the limitation period is up, the lender can still chase you for payment, but has no ability to force action through the courts.
