I have been paying 2 ccj's for about 15 years now, what would happen if i stopped paying


I have been paying 2 ccj's for about 15 years now (£5 month on each one) I will be dead before the debt is cleared so what would happen if i just stopped paying now? I am about to move house soon, would this help?

What happens if you stop paying CCJ's

This is a quote from another answer on this website. Hope it help:

 

"If you can’t pay the repayments set by the CCJ, your creditors have access to more severe ways or getting their money back that include bailiffs, contacting your employer to get payment paid directly from your wages (This is called an Attachment of Earnings), or even making a petition to the court for your Bankruptcy."

For the sake of £5 per month is it worth rocking the boat? If you stop paying the creditor has access to the court procedures outlined above.

I'm not an expert on credit files but I think the CCJ will have dropped off your credit reference many years ago. It should only have been recorded on there for 6 years. By all means get a copy of your Experian report and let us know.
