Is there anywhere I can set up a savings account whilst I am Bankrupt?

Me and my partner both chose to go bankrupt last August. We would like to set up a savings account (joint or personal it doesn't really matter) to ensure we will never get into the same money troubles again. However I'm having no luck finding anyone who offers savings accounts to bankruptees. I can't see why as there is no credit involved? Has anyone had the same problem and managed to find a savings account? I'd love some feedback. Thanks.

If you are still classed as a bankrupt (i.e. you have not been discharged from the bankruptcy) then the simple answer is no. Any spare cash that you might have during this time should be paid into the bankruptcy for the trustee to distribute for the benefit of creditors. You should not really have any spare cash as such because when you go bankrupt it’s because you can’t afford to pay your creditors. Until you are discharged from your bankruptcy you will be unable to save any money as any living costs will have been budgeted for you and there should be no need to put money aside for anything.
