my credit file was marked as "discharged" after 5 months. Does this mean i am free from any debts owed before the bankruptcy order processed in Jan 2008 and the only ones i am responsible for paying are any bills valid after this date?
How do i go about obtaining a certificate of discharge without paying £60 court cost for one. I have found to clear off old accounts attached to my bankruptcy and for them to be marked as "satisfied" other than "open" on my credit file, the creditors are happy to close them off as long as i supply this where others have already closed them off without question. I did not receive one of these at the time or would have kept it. It seems a shame to be out of pocket paying for this when all of the information they need is shown on my credit file and i am happy to print this off for them, some of which have accepted apart from 1 who seem to be plain ackward simply as i am no longer shown on any insolvency sites. I have gave all the case details as well!!!

If you have been discharged from bankruptcy then you no longer have to declare yourself “A bankrupt” and discharge removes the restrictions of bankruptcy and releases you from most of the debts you owed at the date the bankruptcy order was made.
You will not be released from debts from any money owed under family court proceedings e.g. maintenance or CSA payments or arising from any personal injury claims against you (unless the court directs otherwise, court fines or debts arising from fraud or certain other crimes, debts you incurred after the bankruptcy order, outstanding student loans.
If you write to the Official Receiver they will be able to provide you with a letter confirming the date of your discharge and there is no cost for this service. If you would prefer a certificate of discharge then the cost is £60, you can ask the Official receiver to advertise your discharge in the local press, but you would have to enquire directly with the Official Receiver regarding the cost of this.

The only way to receive the discharge certificate is to pay the £60 fee, the Insolvency Service do not automatically issue them when your bankruptcy is discharged. If your creditors were not contacted by the Official Receiver at the time of your bankruptcy they will require proof before they will mark your debt as satisfied.
Any bills or debts you have incurred after the date of your bankruptcy are still your responsibility to pay.
