If you want to voluntarily become bankrupt you're going to need to have enough money to pay the court. The deposit is £335, plus there may be an additional fee of £150. The court may reduce or not charge this additional fee depending on your circumstances.
The deposit is £360 and the court fee is £150. This may well be waived since you are on benefits. If you phone the county court they will tell you whether you qualify.
Some courts require a fee for the affidavit (oath) of £12.
For a couple to go bankrupt this could all amount to £1044!
There is a little bit of help available with the fees from certain organisations. If you want some advice on that email me at the Debt Advice Foundation by clicking on my name.
