Do teachers loose their pensions and lum sums if made bankrupt?

My wife is 9 months off retirement and may be made bankrupt. She has a teachers pension and an AVC.

Re: Do teachers loose their pensions and lum sums if made ...

Not usually. Pensions are excluded from the bankruptcy unless the Trustee feels that the bankrupt has been deliberately putting extra money into the pension to avoid repaying creditors.

When you say your wife may be made bankrupt, is that due to a creditor's petition? Or is she looking to declare herself bankrupt. Either way you must get some advice.
