In general bailiffs have the right to levy any item belonging to the debtor. However there are some items that are exempt and these include anything that belongs to or is for the exclusive use of a child, clothing, bedding, furniture, and household equipment necessary for the debtor and their family to live. A bailiff can also not seize tools, books, vehicles and any other item of equipment necessary for personal use in a person’s employment, business or vocation.
