Persistent bailiff, can they take my mum and brothers cars? |
A bailiff has been to my house 4 times in the last 2 weeks. I live with my mum and younger brother and have never met or seen the bailiff as I have either been at work or college. They want £450.00 for an £80 parking fine from 2008!
We are aware of our rights and have not let the bailiff into the house and we always keep the doors and windows locked. My mum told the bailiff that I no longer live at the property and reside with my partner. She refused to give him any further contact details for me.
The bailiff says that my car is registered to my home address and that's a shame because I'm going to lose it.
I'm not worried as I have stored my car at a friends house but I'm worried they might try and clamp and/or remove my mum or brothers cars? I know that they are not 'allowed' to do this but I'm worried they might do this as leverage to make me pay up?
The warrant of execution expires at the end of December so I think this is a last ditch attempt to get their money.

It is illegal for bailiffs to take the goods of third parties to repay a debt. They cannot even threaten to use your family’s belongs as leverage. Bailiffs must follow the National Standards for Enforcement Agents (which are available online) and if they don’t you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman
