I rented a property from november 2009-june 2010, for the first 3 months I paid my council tax at a sinle occupancy rate, then in february I had a baby so came onto full benefits but still had some council tax to pay. I paid this and then moved boroughs. Now in my new property I have had a letter from bailiffs stating a court order was placed on me for £158.. I rang the council tax department and was told that despite informing their housing benefit department I had moved they were unaware and I must provide proof of address from the date I claimed. I took this in (tenancy agreement). Will I now still be liable for the money? I have not yet heard anything since, and am worried about bailiffs coming to my house when I have an 18month old daughter as I am not sure what the procedure is with them.

This will prove that you are not liable for council tax during this period.
