Yes you can. The first thing to do is to be sure it is a bailiff that is collecting the debt, not just a debt collector. Debt collectors are more easily dealt with.

Even Bailiffs would prefer to collect the money rather than seize your goods, however they are a law unto themselves and are sometimes very demanding.

If the bailiff gets into your house, (or you have a car parked on your drive) your possessions will usually be listed on a "walking possession". This gives the bailiff security over the goods and they will often use that to back up any arrangement they make with you. At any time they can return to collect the goods. You will also incur further costs.

If you are unable to make an arrangement with the bailiff you need to contact the court that issued the judgement and talk to the court staff about suspending the warrant the bailiff is collecting on.

You can then ask the court for an instalment order.
