Hello. I opened my mailbox today and i had a letter for bailiff removal. It said on the letter that it was supposed to be delivered on hand. My payment was due in 24 hours but i open the letter 3 days after i received it because i do not check my mailbox every day. However i am student so i am not obligated to pay the council tax. I though the council tax issue was sorted by the university straight after my enrolment. I never received a warning from them only a letter when i first move to my new property 5 months ago that said that i had to pay. What sould i do. Can this be sorted easily?

You will need to contact the council and provide them with proof of when you moved into the property and the fact that you are a student and not liable for council tax. Once you moved out of ‘Halls of Residence’ it became your responsibility to inform your council/landlord that you are a student and not liable for council tax.
