Can bailiffs take property that I have bought for my daughter? |
My daughter lives with her mother and not me however I have bought most of her possessions. Her mother has debt problems and is facing bailiffs arriving. Can they take my daughters possessions that I have paid for? We have lived apart for over 5 years and the debts are much more recent

Your ex partner really does need to take advice on her debt situation, a debt advisor can take a full look at all her debts and discuss them all in more detail.
The job of a bailiff is (if they do enter a home) is to take any possessions of value to settle the debt owed. She would need to provide proof that she has not bought these items of your daughters.
If the bailiffs are collecting for an unsecured debt (credit card, loan etc) then you do not need to allow them entry, however if they are collecting for unpaid fines or council tax they can and will take any goods they feel necessary unless it is proven they have not been bought by her.
