Can Bailiffs take my property for a parking fine of £360 |
I offered them a small amount of £10 they told me unless i could give them £100 they were going to pass it back to the people on their vans & they would come & recover my property can they do this. I am very disabled as i have a serious back complaint & i need my car & cant be without it for getting around. I made the bailiff aware that had been dealing with my case that i was going through a horrific` time of trying to get my tenancy back off my ex who was out to get my house off me. He was very understanding at the time, & told me i had enough difficulties going on & not to worry. Now today after my ex telling me over the phone that a letter had been handed to him by hand this morning which i asked him to open after opening it he informed me that it was from the bailiff & opening it it said do not ignore this letter at your peril. On ringing the bailiff he told me he had cut me enough slack & i had ignored several letters i had not ignored any of the letters I felt i just had enough

A bailiff calling for a fine can take property to the value of it - yes. It is wise to compile an income and expenditure for them if you have not already done so, your fine is a priority debt and therefore should be paid before any payments to other unsecured debts (credit cards, loans etc).
You will need to arrange a regular payment for this debt, otherwise every time a bailiff calls the balance will only increase due to their own fees.
A debt advisor can help you compile an income and expenditure form and advise how much to offer the bailiff and other creditors
