Re: Can the bailiffs come into my room

The bailiffs do not have the right to force entry into the property, however once they have been granted access on one occasion they do have the right to return to seize goods. It is advisable to ensure doors and windows are kept shut and locked and to make sure nobody lets any bailiffs enter the property. So long as this is done your goods will be safe. If the bailiffs have already entered they may try to levy on your goods in which case you can argue that they cannot seize your personal items as you are not liable for the debt. A copy of the tenancy agreement signed between you and your parents would back up this defence.
