I had council tax debt in 2009 and bailiff entered my house , but we setletted arrangement and everything was paid and sorted.Now i receive a letter that we own £400 to Council as unpaid tax which was wrong as every single months tax was paid with some delays on dates but council received their money every months.I sent letter to council , but wondering if bailiffs (the same company)can enter my house again even it is a different case with different liability order? I also found that last time they acted against Fair trading act and threatened us to force in property with police and take all belongings including our landlords as we live in rented property.They also demanded £500 in 24 hours and we ended to pay more than twice. At that time i didn't know my rights as that time we really owned council some amount.

If they are chasing up a new debt with a new liability order, then they cannot use the fact that they entered your home on a different matter to enter your home now. They cannot use the police to force their way in. It is best if you try and deal directly with the council and set up an agreement to pay the amount you owe.
