Bailiff's - what can they take?

We should expect a letter soon from a collection agency, not a huge bill, but my dad refuses to pay.

So anyway, if they do come some day, just a few queries:

- what things can they take? Furniture for e.g.?

- If something is in my pocket (i.e. phone/console) can they "mug" me?

- more importantly can they take PC's? If so, what do they do to the personal files/hard drive on the computer?

Any response would be welcome, thanks.

Re: Bailiff's - what can they take?

Collection agencies are not bailiffs. They have no power to take anything.

You have to be very clear about the difference.

Bailiffs collecting for a normal debt do have the power to seize goods but they would prefer to have the money.

Council Tax bailiffs can basically take anything. When collecting a normal debt they cannot take anything that does not belong to the debtor, normal household goods, tools of the trade etc.
