Bailiffs trying to get my council tax money even though i'm a student |

I tried contacting my local council tax office when i first moved in, but they wouldn't reply, even though i've sent them my uni letters they passed me on to the bailiff company. Now bailiffs are terrorizing me even after they've received my proof of being a student. All they say is that i have to talk to the council tax office but they would not speak to me. What do i do now?

Take all your documents including another copy of your certificate of student status to the council tax office in person. This is a simple mistake for them to rectify. Ask them to cease bailiff action and issue a new council tax bill that shows you are exempt from payment. If after this the council still does not make the amendments, you can make a complaint to the Local Council Ombudsman.
