I want to discover ways of spending less and getting more out of life. Whether that's making everyone one of my hard earned pounds go further or learning to do things that don't involve spending to have fun.

Re: Learning to spend LESS and get MORE

Since graduating from university and entering the consistent city flow of 9 -5 the temptation to spend constantly surrounds you . My weekly day time spending habits were not helped by the now ever flexible approach to cashless transactions, self service tills and almost every city shop, cafe and restaurant excepting any sort of credit or debit card they can get their hands on.. making sure that the consumer are able to pay for whatever they want using whatever means possible creates a more desirable platform to spend money... A risky trap!

I found my daily spend on a snack in the morning, lunch and a snack on the way home would soon add up to almost £15 per day, that’s not counting the social activities after work with friends and soon found myself in a £20 a day city spending habit... that doesn’t sounds too much but when you times that by 5 days of each working week, times by 4 (month) and you have a whopping monthly outgoing of at least £400.

The ability to pay by card everywhere ensured I lost count of small daily transactions which all added up each month – to ensure I was able to get on top of this wasteful spending habit I began to work with good old CASH – withdrawing £10 per day for working hours spend, that way when the £10 was gone, it was gone and I was fully aware that my limit for that day had been spent – this resulted in cutting my monthly spend by half to £200, a more respectable and affordable amount..

Monthly savings like this PLUS other savings soon adds up and prevents people over spending into the RED – RED mean danger and RED means DEBT

Hope that helps anyone...
