Being in debt is a living nightmare. I know because I have been there and is why I have decided to write about it and contribute to this website. Nearly two and a half years ago I had £34,000 worth of debt. For creditors. 2 or 3 phone calls a day chasing payments. At least one letter a day that normally got unopened (does anyone else do that?), sleepless nights and an empty feeling inside.
When I finally did something about it, which in my case was get debt help from a debt charity it as like the weight if the world was lifted from me. Within 6 weeks I had no calls, no letters, no more interest payments and my life back. I changed over night. I was me again.
The more you read about and talk to others about their own experiences you realise that there is a common thread that holds us all together. We all got ourselves in a mess and we're all Debt Free Wannabe's.
What does this mean for me, this group and you. This is where I will and invite you to talk about and share:
- how and why we get in debt
- how we're getting ourselves out
- how to manage money more intelligently
- our individual stories, warts and all
