CCCS

CCCS (Consumer Credit Councelling Service) are a leading UK debt charity with a telephone service and 10 regional centre’s. Their advice and solutions are free and they have a good reputation. Once your situation has been assessed by a debt counsellor they primarily offer two debt solutions. A Debt Management Plan, and the more recent addition to their offering, the IVA, which they call a CCCSVA. According to recent data released by the charity, from April to Jun 2008 they counselled 29,000 in the UK. Just over 6,000 (just under 1 in 5) entered into a debt management plan. 107 of the 29,000 had an IVA arranged which equates to 0.4%. Like debt help companies, CCCS charge your creditors for proposing and managing your debts. The key difference is they don’t do it for commercial profit.
