Step By Step

No shortcuts where you’re headed,
You’ll need fortitude and drive
But the sooner you start walking,
The sooner you’ll arrive.

Don’t pretend that there’s no problem,
Hide your head beneath the sand,
Instead draw up a strategy
And stick to what you’ve planned.

Debt’s wily paths are tangled
To snare poor passers-by
But it’s a clear straight route to solvency
Step out – it’s time to try.

Don’t worry that you’ll stumble
Don’t fear another fall
For there are helping hands to hold –
You only need to call.

Try cutting up those credit cards,
Avoid the shops in town
And bin those heavy catalogues –
They’ll only weigh you down.

Don’t face the journey on your own,
Confide in those who care,
However far the finishing line
Their support will help you there.

Remember no one’s judging you
If gifts this year are slighter,
They’d rather see you smile again
And know your burden’s lighter.

Come on – what are you waiting for?
Take that first step today,
The pace you choose is up to you
But move forwards – that’s the way!

You can reach it if you strive
